What is treatment like?
Prior to treatment, the area being treated will be cleaned and shaved. During treatment, a laser will be used to deliver controlled pulses of highly concentrated light to the area. Once the light penetrates the skin, the hair follicles will absorb it. Surrounding tissue will not be damaged. The heat discourages and eventually destroys possible hair re-growth. After treatment, the area is cleansed, and broad spectrum sun screen is applied. Large areas of the body, like the back, legs and abdomen can be treated rapidly. Facial areas such as the lip, chin, and beard can be treated in minutes.
How many treatments are necessary?
The laser only affects hair follicles when they are in the growth phase. Because of this more than one treatment may be needed to disable hair follicles that will eventually enter the growth phase. We will discuss how many treatments you will need at the initial consultation.
